what the pros are doing

Focal length of lens-15mm

Shutter speed-f/2.8 fisheye

what is the effect of the shutter speed? it takes really quick pictures so that it wont blur.

Aperture-1/1600 f/2.8

what is the effect of shooting at this aperture? it wont make the picture blurry

Position-the photographer was standing in the stand watching the cars go by & cheering them on along with the audience.

show & Tell

wow...dog running in green grass. it's calming. the dog doesnt merge into the grass. the trees balance out the whole picture. It's a good picture.

this video is really cool because in the beginning it looks like its going to be about gangs & drugs but then all of a sudden you see cops giving out candy!!! that isn't normally done.

Filling the frame

all the beakers on the table seem like shes busy & experimenting. the droppers may show that it may hurt her hand if it ever went in contact with any part of her body parts. yet no gloves show it wont

Action & Emotion

She looks happy!!! her hair is standing hair by the silver globe that she's touching. the smile undoubtingly expresses that shes happy.

the Story

ouch blood drive! she looks like she's in agonizing pain. the needle goes in her while she tries to not squirm to make it worse. the sticker gives the veiwer the idea that shes willing to do this to give blood

2008 Winner Color Print

the water calms the internal soul & the way it plummets off the squared rocks gives a alluring diagonal line. the stones are a dark brown making the water seem elegantly white. all the while the composition is mainly the water urgently dashing downward off the stone. this picture is fascinatingly appraising & captivating to the eye.

Great Black & White Photographers 3

1. What usually caught my eye from W. Eugene Smith's photos is that it's not like other photographers pictures and that they are abnormal.

2.
Train:

  • i see a man waiting for a train patiently while other trains are dashing by.
  • i smell the must of the nasty odor of the old train with stains of many sorts & colors.
  • i hear nothing but the load noise of the track while it trembles beneath the weight of the massive train meanwhile it eagerly passes by to reach its destination.
  • i taste the beautiful night sky eroding by the city lights that overthrow the stars among the heavens.
  • i feel like this train is taking forever!

Haystack:

  • i see a mere haystack with a lazy man sleeping on it
  • i smell the fresh clean air of the trees & the grass.
  • i hear the cows in the distant field bellow out 'moo' while the small windy air disentigrates when blasting by them.
  • i taste the filthy dehydrated grass mixed with the coil of chaff.
  • i feel calm while i yearn to rest with the happy man in the black dirty hat that can't wait to dispose of the hay to feed himself along with his happy herd of cows.

3. a power point to show his many pictures of happy times & some very low times of the world along with some notes & facts about him to amuse the audience.

Hurricane Ike

Windows from the windows give the picture lines & attract the eye to the building & make the man in the lower right inferior. The man seems like he has a lot of work to do by windows that are broken & the glass that lay on the floor giving the rules of thirds by his position. He (the subject) also stands out from everything else showing the photographer was avoiding mergers. All of this would cath peoples attention likeit did mine.
The stills that support the house guide the eye to the house which is all alone around destruction. The house stands out by its uniques color & therefor avoids mergers.

negative/poitive why??

1. On the negative the building is a much lighter than the positive. the shades are dark when they are suppose to be lighter. on the positive, objects are all reversed compared to the original negative.
Noting an image in which the brightness values of the subject are reproduced so that the lightest areas are shown as the darkest.
colors and luminance's are reversed due to the chemical process involved in recording the picture.
Stuff to do with water glass & air & how air bends from the indence of angle into the water or glass.
